Let's Catch These Guys
As someone close to the Ashley Loring Heavyrunner missing persons case, in Browning, MT, I cannot help but see some glaring similarities between her mystery and the mystery surrounding the missing girls of Jennings, LA, of who the documentary Murder in the Bayou is about. The key links are drugs, young girls, dirty old men, and the suspicion of corrupt government officials.
And that got me thinking, how can we the people randomly drug-test all elected officials? It is actually unconscionable to think that this isn't going on already. It is critical that those entrusted with governing are doing so with a clean mind. I mean, us lowly citizens are subjected to drug-testing in a lot of employment situations, so why shouldn't we demand the same of our leaders. I'm imagining a huge, concerted effort that strikes like a lightning bolt down out the darkness.
Who knows how to achieve such a thing? Maybe it needs to be signed into legislation first, however it comes about, the important thing is we catch these bad actors off-guard. My guess is that there are a number of crackhead government officials out there...being paid to be criminal.
This is not a covetous inclination. This is simply a good idea.
