Sounds a Golden Wave
Of all the senses that compose my being it's hearing that has me thinking. While seeing and hearing both receive information in waves, it's the slower more mutable sound waves that, for some reason, seem more golden. Lights waves, with their ancient origin and blazing speed, seem to pierce, while sound waves, fresh from the latest cosmic crash, appear more muddled and mysterious.
My marketing mind, while pondering light and sound information, arrives at social media and asks questions like, "Is light information more reliable? More absorbable? When I scroll Facebook with the sound off is it more conducive? Does what I'm seeing change my being, my belief system, more than if I was simply listening?"
As kids, my father would take my brother and I on bike rides to Dairy Queen for ice cream. Being wild speed racers it was important for Dad to provide us with one quick bit of wisdom to keep us safe and that was always, "Use your ears!" I still follow this great advice today.
We're flooded with media and conflicting messages, especially with light information (on a news feed for example), and our minds are trying to spectrum the facts and figure out where things are coming from on a linear, last-come-first-served basis. We're processing a lot and I'm thinking that if we concentrate on sound, to help us peripherally, then we'll have a better chance of surviving this world, and, if we listen carefully, what rings true in our hearts will sound like music to our ears.
