A Wild, Wild Notion
Hello world. It's been a long time since my last post. So much has happened. Skatepark Mark has become a pretty fitting little moniker to encompass the 4Missoula work I've been doing. Since my last post, over two years ago, 50 skateboards have been donated through this charity to local, low-income kids - something I'm proud of, but need to do so much more work on. And with fresh ideas coming in everyday it's hard to know where to move and what to pursue. So lately, feeling patient and optimistic with eyes set on the horizon of opportunity, I've been reading a lot and now, in this early morning hour, I'm back on the Blogger with something amazing to write about.
This is such a great idea that it needs to be shared in a way that the most powerful people in the world, who might actually be able to make it happen, can see it and its beautiful potential.
The idea is this (and it's radical I know)...Facebook, in representation of its users and their families (alive and dead), bring a class-action lawsuit against all the big companies in the oil industry on the premise that the Earth's oil reserve is now a global interest and the people who have been extracting it up until now have been doing so at an expense the planet has been unfairly burdened with. The extraction has cost us all greatly and it's time the industry pay up. Why Facebook you may ask. Simple. After seeing the hilarious distribution check process on the Blood Reserve in Canada last summer where folks lined up for their paper check it occurred to me that Facebook has the best network for distributing the settlement check. Just imagine if Facebook used its own software to give its users money. The world would be so happy and Facebook would be something of real value. I'm envisioning #Distro2020 :)
Anyway, the place to start is with all the past cases that fell short of success because of the lack of funds to continue the fight. These people, who have been so blatantly taken advantage of, will be honored and, in a landmark case, Facebook, in sweeping victory, will restore order and extract the wealth squirreled away by illegal beneficiaries.
So, Mark Zuckerberg this is Mark Mullendore challenging you to do something truly epic with your creation. Save the world.
So, what do you think? Pretty good idea, huh?
